ULTRAHOOK WINCH SHACKLE MOUNTS All the benefits of closed-system winching with the versatility of having a hook. Originally developed to meet the needs of off-road racers who wanted the speed of a hook and functionality of closed system winching, the low-profile UltraHook features an industry-first closed system shackle mount hole machined into the body of the hook and installs in minutes. A latch pin, which is stored in the hook’s body, can lock the safety latch securely into place for a true Closed Loop System™. Integrated finger grips promote proper “Hook Up” orientation. UltraHook is the first winch hook that can be stored neatly against a winch’s fairlead protecting it from a metal-to-metal connection, thanks to EPDM rubber pads, which also eliminate the UltraHook from rattling.

HAWSE FAIRLEADS Ultra-hard coating resists abrasion and damage from extreme side pulls. Factor 55 Hawse Fairleads are the best in the business. They’re CNC machined from thick USA 6000-series aluminum bar and thicker than the industry-standard 0.75” size to extend rope life. Additionally, the slot opening is taller to allow larger ½” tube thimbles to pass through. All Factor 55 Fairleads are coated with a durable MIL-A-8625F TYPE III gunmetal gray hard-anodized finish with a laser-engraved logo. That finish is not a cosmetic thing. The hard coating resists abrasion, damage from extreme side pulls, and is one of the top-five hardest materials known to exist. Plus the low friction coefficient means less wear and tear on your rope.

SIZE YOUR KINETIC RECOVERY ROPE TO YOUR VEHICLE Purchase your Factor 55 KERR based on your vehicle’s gross vehicular weight rating (GVWR). A properly sized rope for typical SUVs and trucks is one that has a 4:1 to 6:1 minimum breaking strength to GVWR ratio. For larger vehicles (Unimogs, EarthRoamers, Earth Cruisers, heavier military trucks, etc.), a 2:1 to 4:1 ratio may be acceptable. If you use a smaller and lighter KERR, rope breakage might occur. If too large and heavy, the rope won’t stretch enough, reducing the maximum kinetic energy assist. The KERR must be suited to the GVWR of the lighter of the two vehicles used in the recovery process.
